    David Leake: Impressions of Musicians
    August 1 – September 14, 2014

The Buddy Holly Center announces David Leake: Impressions of Musicians, a new exhibition displayed in the Foyer Gallery. This exhibition will feature the work of local artist David Leake, who paints one-of-a-kind oils, including portraits of locally and nationally renowned musicians.

David Leake is a native of Lubbock. He has been painting for most of his life, starting off by drawing as a young boy and later studying studio art at Texas Tech University.  He had a long career with the R.D. Thomas Advertising Agency in Lubbock, serving first as art director, then vice president and president, retiring in 2012.

Leake's medium of choice is oil.  He paints a variety of subjects, most recently, his impressions of West Texas musicians, in an effort to honor these legends.  Leake has studied under professional artists Timothy Horn in Marin County, California, Glenn Lyles and Kathy Hinson.
