Winter Garden by David DuBose
The Buddy Holly Center announces David DuBose: Above and Below, a collaborative exhibition with the Texas Tech University College of Architecture. This exhibition is generously supported by Alderson Enterprises, Inc. Delineation Enrichment Endowment, which sustains public lectures or exhibits on the interface of architecture and the arts.
David DuBose is a Texas Tech alum and internationally known printmaker. He has exhibited in over 150 exhibitions around the world, and has had artist residencies in Germany, Canada, Ireland and the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas Tech University in 1986 and a Master of Fine Arts from Louisiana State University in 1990. He lived in Northern Ireland for thirteen years, where he taught printmaking at the University of Ulster in Belfast and later served as the Director of the Seacourt Print Workshop before returning to the United States in 2005. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and continues to exhibit regionally, nationally and internationally. Manuel J. Gonzales, organizer of this exhibition and Texas Tech University College of Architecture faculty member, said, “In a rather informal manner as we pulled prints, I recall mentioning the idea of doing something like this with David. That conversation was back in July 2012 at the TTU campus in Junction, Texas. It is exciting to see we have worked together to make it happen. On behalf of the College of Architecture, its faculty and students, we are thrilled to have David DuBose return to Lubbock to share his work and conversation with the community."
David DuBose: Above and Below features prints and mixed media works on paper that illustrate DuBose's multi-layered approach to the printmaking medium.
