Community Services Block Grant
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds eligible entities for the delivery of services to very low income Texas residents in all 254 counties. These funds support a variety of direct services in addition to helping maintain the core administrative elements of these local organizations.
CSBG funding is not competitive. Eligible entities are designated by the Governor to provide a broad range of services designed to eliminate poverty and foster self-sufficiency and must provide these services in a geographic area not served by another eligible entity.
The City of Lubbock's Community Services Block Grant in part provides funding to South Plains Association of Governments
for the Information and Referral Directory as well as the 2-1-1 services for this area. Dial 2-1-1 for referral information.
Funding is also provided to Catholic Charities
for the Parent Empowerment Program to help transition single parent and two parent household out of poverty. Must have children living in same household. For more information, contact Sabrina at (806) 765-8475.
