Kathy grew up on a farm located in the South Plains of Texas and developed a love and respect for the outdoors, which is beautifully rendered in her work.

Her representational style of painting invites us to experience the joy she sees in the natural beauty of many things most of us take for granted.

ABOUT THE CLASS:

 

This six week workshop is a small and encouraging class for those who want to learn the process and simplicity of structuring a painting in oils. Students will be painting from an image of their choice (either landscape or still life).

 Students will need to bring the following supplies with them to class:

Misc. Supplies
  • Palette for oil
  • Brushes, sizes 2, 4, 6, 8 flat
  • Turpenoid
  • Container for Turpenoid
  • Palette knife
  • Paint scraper
  • Pencil or charcoal
  • Gesso
  • Foam brush for spreading Gesso
  • Light sandpaper
  • Paper towels
  • Canvases: 9X12, 11X14 or 16X20
  • Artguard Barrier Cream for hands
Paints:
Winsor & Newton-Winton
:
Titanium white, soft mixing white, cadmium yellow,
cad light yellow, cad orange, cad red light,
alizarin crimson, french ultramarine blue, sap green,
dioxazine purple, magenta, yellow ochre

  

Grumbacher: 
Grumbacher red, thalo red rose,
transparent red iron oxide, thalo yellow green

Holbein: 
Blue grey, green grey, rose grey, violet grey
