The Garden and Arts Center is a proud member of the First Friday Art Trail and thrives to display the work of local artists, artisans, and crafters. The opening or closing reception date for exhibitions takes place during the First Friday of each month, unless otherwise stated.

As part of the First Friday Art Trail, the Lubbock Municipal Garden & Arts Center (GAC) will host a reception on September 4, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the opening of Visions of Beauty.  This gallery show will feature work by Special Needs students of Henry Salley and associates Arnie Smith and Darrell Philip, who teach classes at the Garden and Arts Center, High Point Village, Lakeridge United Methodist Church, Cathelene Thomas Elementary and Roosevelt Junior High School.  The evening will include music, a question-and-answer session, a demonstration painting area, refreshments and an awards ceremony.

The Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center (GAC) will host a closing reception and awards ceremony Friday, November 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the 26th Annual National Arts Program in Lubbock. Awards will be presented beginning at 7:30 p.m. The annual exhibit features art work by City of Lubbock employees, family members, volunteers and City of Lubbock retirees. 

The National Arts Program is designed to give all artists, at all skills levels, an uninhibited opportunity to exhibit their work in a professional manner and to compete for cash prizes. Sponsored by the National Arts Program Foundation in support and cooperation with the City of Lubbock, the exhibit is judged by professional artists and visual art professionals in Amateur, Intermediate, Professional, Teen and Youth classifications.
