We Need Your Pumpkins!
2015 marks the seventh year of the Lubbock Pumpkin Trail, and we need your help to build this year's trail by donating your carved jack-o-lanterns! GROUPS BRINGING 10 OR MORE PUMPKINS
NEEDED: 2,000 CARVED PUMPKINS – You provide the pumpkin, and we’ll provide the candles. Be a part of this wonderful family tradition.
PUMPKIN CENTRAL - (806) 767-3706
Whether you plan to bring one pumpkin or 10 or more, call Pumpkin Central at Hodges Community Center, (806) 767-3706, in advance and let us know how many pumpkins you are bringing so we can build towards our goal. We’ll be broadcasting updates on our Pumpkin Count as we get closer to the event.
Groups bringing 10 or more pumpkins will have a sign posted along the trail with their name or logo on it. Call 806-767-3706 in advance and let us know how many you plan to bring so that we can have your trail sign ready! PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee pumpkin placement together on the trail unless pumpkins are delivered at the same time and marked on the back. We cannot guarantee that your sign will be located with your pumpkins. Bringing 10 or more pumpkins does not designate your group for a display.
Bringing 10 or more pumpkins DOES NOT designate your group as a Display Host. Hosts must complete an application process, bring a minimum of 15 carved pumpkins, and decorate their display. To host a display, click on the link below for the requirements and application process.
DELIVERY OF PUMPKINS – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14 – 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM
Deliver carved pumpkins to the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum at 4111 University on the east side of the parking lot. Look for the “DELIVER PUMPKINS HERE” signs.
PUMPKIN TRAIL CARVING TIPS – In order to keep the carved pumpkins fresh throughout the entire event, we ask that the pumpkins be carved no earlier than Monday, October 12. For carving designs and ideas, follow Lubbock Parks and Recreation on Pinterest and check out our Pumpkin Carving board.
PUMPKIN TRAIL CARVING TIPS
Tip 1: Carve your pumpkins no earlier than MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, so they stay fresh for the event.
Tip 2: Clean out the insides of the pumpkins well. Be sure there are no seeds or stringy material left inside to mold.
Tip 3: Limit the size of your cuts on the pumpkin. On windy nights, it's hard to keep jack-o-lanterns lit when there are large carved areas that let in the wind.
