The Water Utilities Department is responsible for managing the city’s water collection, water treatment, and wastewater removal.
The City of Lubbock has made plans for its residents to have water for the next 100 years by obtaining water supplies from different sources. The main source of water for the city is groundwater. This groundwater comes from two places, well fields in Roberts County and well fields in Bailey County. Also, the city is in the process of constructing the infrastructure to bring water from Lake Alan Henry to its residents. This project has an estimated completion date of 2012.
Along with getting our water from different sources, the city is also being proactive in educating the public about water awareness and water conservation. These things will enable the citizens of Lubbock to have water for years to come.
