Make sure your kids know what to do when situations arise while they are home alone. Mae Simmons Community Center will be hosting Home Alone Safety Training on February 24, 2018, or May 19, 2018, from 10 am-Noon. This two-hour class is designed to teach children who are home alone after school the importance of behaving responsibly. Topics include but are not limited to: basic first aid tips, what to do when a stranger comes to the door, answering the telephone, and how to react during a variety of miscellaneous emergencies such as power outages and fires. Kids will get to bring home a booklet with information covered in the class. A pizza dinner will be provided for participants. Pre-registration for the Feb 24 event is due by February 20 at noon at Mae Simmons Community Center, 2004 Oak Avenue. For the May 19 event, it's due by May 14. .For youth and teens ages 8-15. $15 per person.
