What We Do

Our mission, Lubbock Water Utilities will provide the best water and sewer service possible with the resources available. This involves furnishing high quality products and services coupled with an overall emphasis on positive customer relations. The Water Utilities Department is responsible for managing the city’s water collection, water treatment, and wastewater removal.

The Water Utilities Department manages the city’s water supply, raw water transmission, water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment, and wastewater reuse and disposal.

The City of Lubbock has made plans for its residents to have water for the next 100 years by diversifying its water supplies. The main source of water for the city is groundwater. This groundwater comes from two places:  the Candian River Municipal Water Authority's Roberts County Well Field and the City's Bailey County Well Field. In addition, to our groundwater supplies, we also receive water from Lake Meredith and Lake Alan Henry.

The city is also proactive in educating the public about ways we can conserve our water supplies.  Conservation and a diversified water portfolio will help ensure that that citizens of Lubbock to have water for decades to come.
